Vama Veche, a Unique Place on the Romanian Coast
About Mangalia, Vama Veche, Neptun, Venus, Saturn
Do you have days when you would like to wake up and enjoy a fairy-tale landscape, far from the bustle of big cities? What would you say to a few days in Vama Veche?
In the southern part of the Romanian coast, the locality of Vama Veche is a fairy-tale place, where nature has kept its character.
The name of the area is no coincidence, as it lies on the border with Bulgaria.
Initially Vama Veche was just a small fishing village, but from the 1970s it began to attract the attention of students from “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca. They chose to gather at Vama Veche and spend the summer months in this fairy-tale land.
Gradually, it became a real paradise for non-conformist young people who wanted to stay on the wild beach until dawn.
It is worth knowing that Vama Veche is a place where you feel freedom and happiness, where you can find your inner peace.
Here you can enjoy a range of interesting activities, including dancing on the beach at sunrise. The uncrowded beach, the sun’s rays pouring over the sea and the clear sky all make Vama Veche a unique place.
If you come to the sea, all that is left is to eat at a fishermen’s restaurant (cherhana), to enjoy the unmistakable taste of fish dishes seasoned with delicious vegetables and the unmistakable garlic sauce.
Vama Veche is a village with a long history, if we consider some of the monuments of culture and civilisation found here.
Histria Fortress is the best example of this, a real masterpiece. Founded in 657 BC by Greek colonists who reached the seashore, the fortress served as a port in times long ago.
The Callatis Archaeological Museum was created precisely to present visitors with a permanent exhibition of objects of Greek and Roman origin.
Diversity is the word that best describes Vama Veche, as there is also a place of worship here that was built in 2000. Sometimes tourists want to take part in the Liturgy held on Sundays.
It is said that in Vama Veche the fun never stops, and the nightclubs are a point of interest for young people who want to party.
Every year rock music festivals are also held in Vama Veche, attended by an impressive number of people. Whether or not you are a fan of this style of music, the atmosphere itself makes you think of holidays and you will feel good.
So the Black Sea coast is as varied as can be, and if you do not like the crowded beaches of Mamaia or Eforie, you can retreat to Vama Veche. Now is the time to spend the last days of the summer season in the most ingenious way possible.
