About Odorheiu Secuiesc, Miercurea Ciuc, Praid, Sovata

Sovata resort, in Mureș County, stands out nationally thanks to its heliothermal lakes.

The water in these lakes has the highest salt concentration in the world, hence the very large number of tourists who choose this holiday destination.

Geographically, Sovata lies in a fairy-tale natural setting, surrounded by hills.

The therapeutic quality of the mud and heliothermal waters stands out, as does the freshness of the air.

The town is on the Târnava Mică river, in the south-western part of the Gurghiu mountains.

At an altitude of 475-530 m, the resort is open to visitors all year round.

Although it was first mentioned in a document in 1597, the resort was considered a therapeutic place only in 1850.

Lake Ursu in Sovata is unique in the whole world, and its uniqueness comes from the fact that it has the highest salt concentration in the world.

It is often compared to “the Dead Sea of Europe” and lies right in the heart of the forests, at an altitude of 502 m.

The lake has a fairly large surface, of about 40,000 sq m, and is the most important in the whole resort.
