Whether you want to admit it or not, the warm summer days are long gone. Still, it is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you should see the autumn season from a different perspective and enjoy every moment. The copper shades of the trees will carry you into a fairy tale, if you take a few days to travel and enjoy nature.
An autumn trip? Oh yes! A very good option. Here are the most interesting places to visit in October!
1. The Dobruja Gorges (Cheile Dobrogei)
What do you say to a short hike through one of the most interesting areas of the country? Yes, you heard right! Although it is not a very large area, the Dobruja Gorges form very beautiful scenery, the ideal place for drives or hikes. Since it is only 2 km, you can enjoy an easy route, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Right nearby is also the Cave of St John Cassian, another outstanding sight.
2. The Apuseni Mountains
We can say the Apuseni Mountains are the ideal destination whatever the season. If in spring you can enjoy alpine meadows full of flowers each more beautiful than the last, autumn is not far behind. As far as the eye can see, you will see the contrast between the evergreen coniferous forests and the deciduous forests that are already beginning to turn yellow. If we also count the clean, cool air, you will see you have made the best choice.
Whether you visit Bears’ Cave, Scărișoara Glacier or take mountain hikes in the Bihor Mountains, you will have a unique experience.
3. Cluj-Napoca
Moving on to urban areas, you will see that autumn can be just as beautiful in cities. Whether or not you have been through Cluj before, there are plenty of interesting things to discover here. Start your tour of the city in Union Square and then head for Cetățuia, a perfect place from which to admire the autumn shades settling over the natural setting.
4. Bârsana Monastery
You have certainly heard of the charm of Maramureș. This part of the country keeps surprising us with its numerous tourist attractions. They include Bârsana Monastery, an outstanding monastic ensemble in Romania. Did you know that the monastery has a long history and was created at the beginning of the 14th century?
5. Brașov
The beautiful city at the foot of the mountains impresses us both with its architecture and by being surrounded by proud coniferous forests. You can begin your visit with Council Square, the central part of the city, and then also visit other tourist attractions, such as the Merchants’ House, the Black Church or the Old Town Hall.
