Council Square (Piața Sfatului)
In the central part of the city is Council Square, an emblematic space of the whole area. There are numerous historic monuments here, as well as restaurants serving traditional food, which delight visitors with the flavour of their dishes. A mulled wine with apple and cinnamon, a portion of papanași with blueberry jam or a tochitură, with a dream view on top. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
The Black Church
This is a religious monument marked by history, where you will have the chance to see even the largest bell in the whole country, weighing over 6,000 kg. Architects believe the church is also among the largest places of worship built in the Gothic style in south-eastern Europe.
Did you know that the building’s name comes precisely from the fact that it was engulfed by a devastating fire in 1689? The dense smoke left its mark on the church roof, but it has kept its charm of old and is much appreciated by visitors from all over the world.
