Four Renowned Tourist Attractions in Moldavia
We keep wondering which part of the country to discover next. In October we suggest you choose the north-east of the country. Moldavia is a historic region with astonishing tourism potential.
It is a picturesque corner of the country that keeps the traditional atmosphere of old.
Traditions are present not only in areas with tourism potential, but quite the opposite. In any part of Moldavia you will see that the locals’ activities include raising animals or farming the land. We suggest 4 very interesting tourist attractions you can admire in Moldavia.
1. The locality of Marginea, where traditions are still alive.
Have you heard of the ceramics of Marginea? Pottery is a craft that has made the village in Suceava County a real national cultural centre. According to historians, this occupation of the locals began as early as 1500. Did you know that in the whole world there are only 3 centres producing black pottery, in Mexico, South America and at Marginea?
Today you can still find pottery workshops in Marginea, but not as many as in the past, when there were over 60 families of potters here. All stages of producing the objects are done by hand. You can even buy all kinds of decorative items or kitchen vessels.
2. The Throne Fortress of Suceava
Built in the 14th century, the fortress was the residence of the rulers of Moldavia for a long period of about 200 years. Today the Throne Fortress of Suceava is considered a historic monument of national interest.
In recent years the monument has been rehabilitated, but the work was done taking into account all the features of the original structure, so that the result would live up to expectations. Both the castle and the defensive walls are in very good condition and can be admired by tourists every day of the week.
3. The Mega Zip Line at Palma
Who said a holiday in Moldavia cannot be the ideal chance to try unusual activities? Are you an adrenaline lover? Then the Mega Zip Line at Palma is the tourist attraction you cannot miss. It is the longest zip line in the whole country, about 1.1 km long. The mountain scenery is remarkable, and the whole experience will be memorable for you.
3. The Pietrele Doamnei trail
We continue with mountain scenery at Rarău, where the mountain trail leading to Pietrele Doamnei (the Lady’s Rocks) is found. If you love hikes on winding mountain paths, you can set off on an adventure. Once you reach an altitude of 1,634 metres, you will enjoy an outstanding panoramic view and can breathe clean air.
