Did you know that Bihor is also home to the country’s most important balneo-climatic resort, Băile Felix?

The thermal-water pools are used even in the winter months, because the water temperature is ideal for relaxation and for strengthening your immunity.

The whole area is fascinating for tourism, given the diversity of landforms. There are karst rocks, gorges, caves, sinkholes and waterfalls, and all these natural attractions delight visitors of all ages.

Băile Felix is one of Romania’s top resorts, only 8 km from Oradea. It is a resort open all year round, whose renown has already crossed national borders. The geothermal springs are used both to treat certain illnesses and for recreation.

Attested since the 18th century, Băile Felix is an ideal choice for your next holiday. Here there is also a superb water-lily lake, where lilies and lotuses delight passers-by.

You have certainly heard of this resort, yet may not have known it is in Bihor. We are talking about an area prized for its ferruginous and oligomineral waters. Besides this, there are other outstanding natural factors, including strongly ozone-rich air, increased solar radiation and low atmospheric pressure.

Geographically, Stâna de Vale lies on Valea Iadului, at an altitude of 1,100 m.

This place is a starting point for various mountain trails, such as towards the Padiș Plateau, Iadolina Waterfall, the Spring of Wonders or Meziad Cave.

According to local legends, if you drink water from the Spring of Wonders you will enjoy eternal youth. In winter the resort is visited by winter-sports enthusiasts, with slopes specially designed for such activities.

Meziad Cave

Bihor is known precisely because more than 300 caves lie on its territory, and one of the most attractive is Meziad Cave.

It can be admired in the Pădurea Craiului Mountains, in a storybook natural setting. According to specialists, traces of habitation from the Neolithic and Palaeolithic can still be glimpsed, even bones of the cave bear, a species that disappeared thousands of years ago.

The whole area is protected and considered a unique monument of nature in Romania.

So if you were not yet convinced of Bihor’s beauties, now you know what unique places exist in this county. All that remains is to plan a holiday in the west of the country and see them with your own eyes.
