Bușteni is among the most visited mountain resorts in Romania, which is not at all surprising given its outstanding natural setting. Geographically, the locality is in Prahova County, at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains.

The whole Prahova Valley is known to Romanian tourists and to those from abroad. Symbolically called “the Amphitheatre of the Carpathians”, this region is considered a true corner of paradise.

The locality of Bușteni is also on the Prahova Valley, a place from where you can glimpse the proud ridges of the Bucegi and the lofty peaks of Jepii Mari and Jepii Mici.

It is a very important tourist and alpine centre in Romania, which attracts thousands of tourists every year who want to find peace in the heart of nature.

The climatic factors have proved very beneficial for health, especially when it comes to treating various respiratory or neuromotor conditions. The clean, ozone-rich air also helps strengthen immunity, which is why it is recommended to take the little ones on holiday too.

First mentioned in the 19th century, the locality of Bușteni was the scene of some military clashes in the First World War. In 1916 very many Romanian soldiers met their end in this area. Today you can visit the Heroes’ Monument (Monumentul Eroilor Neamului), built at an altitude of over 2,291 m, on the top of the Caraiman Mountains, in memory of the heroes who defended the country, even at the cost of their lives.

The monument is truly impressive, which means it must be on your list of sights to visit if you come to Bușteni.
